Good Sports mission is to increase youth participation in sports, fitness, and recreational programs by targeting one of major obstacles limiting participation-access to sports equipment.

Since 2003 Good Sports has,

• Provided more than $4 million worth of equipment
• Impacted more than 220,000 kids
• Served nearly 700 youth programs

Youth Sports and Fitness Program- Good Sports distributes sports equipment, footwear, and apparel to community organizations offering programs to disadvantaged youth helping to lay the foundation for healthy, active lifestyles.

Community Health Program- In partnership with Community Health Centers, Good Sports provides necessary fitness equipment to children being treated in healthy weight, diabetes, or other obesity related medical programs.

To accomplish this, Good Sports partners with sporting goods manufacturers to ensure that disadvantaged youth are getting the equipment they need to participate.

• Participation in team sports has been in steady decline for decades.1

• Urban youth are much less likely to participate in sports and fitness programs than suburban youth. Over 60% of suburban youth participate in sports leagues compared to 20% of urban youth.2

• Kids who play sports are 57% less likely to drop out of school, 49% less likely to take drugs, and 37% less likely to become teen parents.3

• Childhood obesity more than tripled from 1975-2004, from just more than 5% to a projected 16.7%.4
