The kids at Syracuse’s Shonnard Street Boys and Girls Club celebrated a much-needed donation of sporting equipment with an All-Star.
Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Patrick Corbin spoke to a group of between 75 and 100 kids at the club Friday afternoon, posing for pictures and signing autographs.
Corbin was there to help the kids celebrate a donation from Good Sports, a non-profit organization that donated $6,000 worth of equipment. The organization said the donation will keep 600 at-risk youths playing with baseballs and basketballs and clad in gloves and jerseys.
Corbin, a 24-year-old Clay native, has a breakout year in his second season in Major League Baseball, making his first All-Star appearance and finishing 14-8 with an ERA of 3.41.
