Play It Forward

The Players Trust has partnered with Good Sports to launch an equipment matching program for charities supported by MLB Players. Good Sports donates brand-new sports equipment, apparel, and footwear to children in need to provide the chance to be active and play sports. Limited program budgets and high pay-to-play costs create significant financial barriers. Since 2003, Good Sports has donated $63 million in athletic gear and impacted more than eight million children. Together, we can ensure that all children have access to play.

In the tabs below, you will find detailed information about how the Equipment Match Program works.  If you have any questions about the program, please contact Leonor Colon prior to submitting your donation:

Making A Difference

Brand new equipment can help youth organizations enhance their programming. Together we can create opportunities for kids who want to play.

On this page, you will have the opportunity to nominate a program as well as make your contribution to be matched.  The Players Trust will match the contribution up to $2,500.

Good Sports will reach out to the nominated program, assess equipment needs, and coordinate the shipping of the equipment.

Once the donation process is complete and the organization has incorporated the new equipment into their programming, Good Sports will provide an impact report to Players Trust detailing equipment donated, total value of equipment distributed, and individual player participation. The report will also capture impact data, stories, and pictures when available.

Youth serving organizations are eligible for equipment donations including schools, YMCAs, Boys & Girls Clubs, Parks & Recreation Departments, Little League teams, homeless shelters, or grassroots organizations.  The program must serve children in need between the ages of 3 and 18.

Nominated programs will be required to submit a short application and Good Sports will support them throughout the process.

It is possible to support an international organization. Please contact Vicky Carballo and Leonor Colon for details before nominating a program outside of the United States.
