On behalf of the entire Good Sports team, we’d like to thank everyone who joined us for our 18th Annual Boston Legends Gala. We were so excited to bring back this signature event after a 2-year hiatus due to the pandemic. Our motto for this event was that “the comeback is always bigger than the setback,” and we can certainly attest to that!

It was truly a night that we will never forget. You could feel the energy in the room and the excitement guests felt finally being back together for this memorable event.

Over 450 guests enjoyed a silent auction, dinner with special guests and of course dessert and dancing to conclude the night. Auction items ranged from autographed memorabilia from Serena Williams, one-of-a-kind travel, tickets to everyone’s favorite Boston sports teams and unique golf experiences.

Our Emcee of the evening was, Trenni Kusnierek, sports anchor and reporter for NBC Sports Boston. She was our captain for the evening and made sure to keep guests up to date on the score of the Celtics vs. Bucks Game 6. Very important.

Next up, our Chair of The Board, Sam Schaefer, made his remarks and spoke about his passion for being involved in our organization. Sam then handed it off to our co-founders, Melissa Harper, and Christy Keswick.

Melissa and Christy took this time to update our guests on what Good Sports has been up to since we last met, highlighting our Restore Play initiative that raised more than $15 million in new equipment for thousands of youth organizations across the country. They also recognized two of our partners, Under Armour and The Dick’s Sporting Goods Foundation, who both stepped up and were committed to helping us during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Governor Baker then took the stage, who we are proud to say has not missed one of our Legends events during his time in office.

Later on in the evening, our keynote speaker, Lex Gillette, blew the audience away with his inspiring story of how he did not let his inability to see stop him from achieving his dreams. As Lex says, “There is no need for sight when you have a vision ®.”

To conclude the night, we highlighted, Boston United, a local organization we serve. Boston United is a free track and field program committed to the physical and mental well-being of Boston youth. It was our honor to share the story of Boston United and the powerful change we’re able to make by working together. Watch our video highlighting Boston United here.

Thanks to everyone’s support, we are proud to share that over $475,000 was raised to help provide new sports and fitness equipment to kids who need it most. We could not have done this without you.

From attendees, sponsors, speakers, and donors, we’re extremely grateful for you all. You all made a life-changing impact on the future for youth athletes in need.
