Cost to Parents

The cost of back-to-school supplies averages at $570 per child.¹ Families already struggling to provide basic supplies are not able to purchase the additional apparel, footwear, and equipment their child needs to play during P.E., recess, or in after-school programs.

School Budget Restraints

The average school P.E. budget is a mere $764 per year, and 30% of the schools that Good Sports serves have a budget of $0.² 80% of the P.E. teachers that we work with report having to purchase equipment using personal funds in order to provide safe and consistent play for their students.

Lack of Access

Only 15% of elementary schools around the country require daily recess². Schools nationwide have received a grade of D- for physical fitness, due to lack of access to regular P.E. classes, gym time and equipment.³
